Yukari Makino Cooperstock is a pole and aerial performer. Her choreography focuses on smooth and flowing movements with an attentiveness to detail. As a pole athlete, she won the title of Paragon International Pole Champion 2014. As an aerial artist, she is currently performing at the Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil.
Yukari started pole dancing in 2007 and Aerial silks in 2008 in Tokyo. Her endurance, strength, and balance are rooted in her gymnastic experiences from childhood. Her skills have been further heightened from acrobatics training in Tokyo since 2008. Yukari’s multiple trainings came together since around 2011, she won many winning titles such as Miss Pole Dance Japan 2011 & 2012 and International Asia-Pacific Pole Acrobatic Dance Championship 2011.
Since 2011, Yukari has performed on national television, in Matsuya-Ginza a well-established elite retail complex, and recurring performances at the biggest night club in Japan, Ageha. In 2012, due to her success, she was accepted as a part of the Cirque du Soleil database of cast members as an aerialist and pole artist. In 2013, she performed as an aerial backup cast member of the most famous band in Japan, Exile. In 2013, Yukari was invited to perform at the World’s Biggest Pole Dance Show “Gravity First 4th Edition” in Mexico. To enhance her abilities, she began training with Reebok CrossFit. She participated in the CrossFit Games 2013 Regional: Asia as a Team Reebok Japan member.
As an artist, Yukari has performed professionally for many years. Her stage works include: Japanese national TV (TBS Asian Ace), the Japanese rock festival(Fuji Rock), the world’s biggest Pole Dance Show(Gravity First), the famous popstar’s stadium concerts (EXILE Live Tour 2013), and One night for One Drop by Cirque du Soleil.
